As always, OSHA has come out with an innovative ideas to help the workers regarding safety and health at working place. OSHA Buffalo Area Office has constituted four alliances to ensure and enhance safety and health at the working place for a cross-section of workers in western New York.
Arthur Dube, OSHA's area director in Buffalo, said, "Each of these alliances is targeted to a distinct group of workers in western New York - workers in construction, general industry, health care and small business, as well as Hispanic workers. Each alliance will provide information and training on work-related hazards and safeguards, and help workers understand their rights under the Occupational Safety and Health Act."
OSHA's regional administrator Robert Kulick says on this matter that they share with their alliance partners the common goal to equip the workers with the knowledge and ability so that they could identify and address workplace hazards and return home healthy and whole at the end of each work shift.
The Western New York Hispanic Alliance will provide the Hispanic workers in western New York with the OSHA 10-hour construction and general industry courses or other abbreviated classes in Spanish. They will provide safety and health information at an annual Hispanic Family Health and Safety Fair to the workers too.
The Western New York Health care Association Alliance will provide emergency preparedness and other safety and health issues pertaining to the health care industry to the workers.
The Lehigh Construction Group Inc. Alliance will provide training for the young and inexperienced workers about hazards in the construction industry. Lehigh with OSHA conduct OSHA outreach training every year to the high school students regarding construction-related fields of study.
The Western New York Safety Conference Alliance will offer construction outreach training and general outreach training for safety and health primarily to small businesses industries.
All these 4 alliances will assist the workers of different level with the safety training programs.
